Historical Documents
Historic preservation is an important way for us to transmit our understanding of the past to future generations. Our city's history has many facets, and historic preservation helps tell these stories.
Without proper preservation, these items can be difficult to find and may even be lost forever. Preserving old documents helps us to better understand our history and the people who came before us. It allows us a glimpse into the past that we might not otherwise have.

The St. John Street Historical Committee continues to search for deeds, mortgage documents, photos, letters, reports, meeting minutes, news reporting and other materials that reference St. John Street and preserve its memory.
Before you clean out the attics and basements of family members, remember how valuable their documents might be to telling the St. John Street story or many other Flint stories including your own.
We will happily accept the materials you want to donate. Scans of all of the materials will be made available on this site and safely archived by the Sloan Museum Archives.
